SYNOPSIS – DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Gender and identity in the work of and by Antoinetta Angelidi. A re-construction.

The trajectory of gender and identity through my four feature-length films. Gender as construction and experience, not as nature or essence. The constant transformations of the same questions. From the construction of gender as social coercion to the construction of gender as personal creation. From the bodily experience as imprisonment to the bodily experience as emancipatory potentiality. This work is a commentary on itself and on the films of which it is made. The neologism “ofby” aims at stressing the connection and constant inversibility between subject and object.
