FILMS
Antoinetta Angelidi is a pioneer of Greek feminist and avant-garde cinema. Her filmography includes four feature-length films and several short films, as well as three unfinished projects. She uses art history and her dreams as raw material for her work, “distancing [herself] from reality in order to reach out to the Real”. The inversion and juxtaposition of codes, as well as dream-mechanism and the uncanny, constitute her main creative strategies. A feature-length documentary-portrait about her was shot by Rea Walldén.
VISUAL WORK
Antoinetta Angelidi made an oath to art at the age of thirteen. She has been drawing since her early childhood and continued to create works of visual art throughout her life, parallelly to her filmmaking. Her exhibited artwork includes drawings, objects, installations, and performances. Her secret artwork carries stories of censorship and personal turmoil. During the recent pandemic, she “unearthed” the hidden drawings of her youth.
