Medea / Kore

Scenario by Antoinetta Angelidi and Rea Walldén
(2009)

SYNOPSIS

A parable about the silenced relationship between mother and daughter. A reconstruction and inversion of the myth of Medea. Medea is a hated character. Even her name is awful. And yet, what would happen if we told the story in a different way? What if the children weren’t killed? What if the mother’s only crime was to have been a woman and a foreigner? What if women started talking? We will tell an old story anew. A story about mothers and daughters, about the foreigners we all are, about the ethics of testimony and narration.

“I will burn paradise and extinguish hell, so that people will do good out of love”
